The year of the Goose

Our oldest dog turned ten! As you can see in this picture, she is still fit as a fiddle. We think it is because her five years younger ‘brother’ acts as her personal trainer :-) .

Our neighbours had a nest of squirrels in the tree in front of their house. From the time the mother built the nest, I captured everything on camera. They were so sweet, it was magic. I sold the report to Naober Magazine and I gave some pictures to the national squirrel conservation organisation.

After having dodged the bullet for so long, …I too got Covid. Fortunately, I was not very ill from it. My throat was a little sore and I was tired. I spent three days reading on the couch. I was in good company full stop, they didn’t leave my side.

My wife and I did a welding course! We had such fun! But it was much harder than we thought. It made me think if when I was a child and saw my Granny knitting a jumper and I thought I could do that too. After she explained to me how to do it, it turned out to be very difficult to achieve a bit of a regular patch that wasn’t totally trapezional. It is the same with welding; it looks simple, but it is not… With the craft of welding, you can burn your fingers quite nastily, too. But didn’t we look cool in our welder’s masks?

This was the first day we slept outside this summer and we continued to do so until it got too humid at night. It is lovely to wake up amidst the birds’ singing and the sun shining on your face.

A dear friend of ours passed away. Far too young. Jol was a good friend, a fun friend, and a great cook. This photo was taken on her beloved spot on the beach. She is so dearly missed.

Now that Covid has finally calmed down a bit, my cousins and I were able to spend our annual weekend away. We went on a mini-cruise to Newcastle. We laughed so much, and had great fun. I took a lot of photos. I promise a lighthouse or something similarly scenic will appear in a collage soon.

I found a hedgehog. It was perfectly healthy but too small for the time of year. Hedgehogs are struggling these days. The summers are too hot and there are not enough insects for them to eat… Under the guidance of the Hedgehog Society, we supplemented its food for a while, until it was fat enough to hibernate. We named it Fritz.

I was a Silver winner in the PX3 competition. My work was exhibited in Paris. My wife and I had such a nice weekend in Paris visiting the winner’s exhibition and this wonderful city.
