It was a good year

For me, 2024 was a good year. Not a spectacular year, or a year of great events. It was just a good year. Pretty care-free. And that’s worth a lot.

I made some nice new works and participated in fine exhibitions. Below you can see some of the new artworks. Some of them are published on postcards and some will become numbered and signed Fine Art Print, soon.

Wondrous Goose took me to beautiful places

I went to many places for Wondrous Goose, below I list some of the most beautiful places.

Nienoord Castle was one of those places. I participated in ‘Kunst op Nienoord’ for the second time. A great club of people organizes a very special Art Fair. The location is very beautiful, I felt like I was at Downton Abbey for a weekend. Too bad you can only participate two years in a row. This was, unfortunately, my second year.

The second place full of history where Wondrous Goose took me, was ‘De Fraeylema Borg’, also in the province of Groningen. There was an art market in the gardens of this small castle. I had a nice spot in the orchard. Here, too, I’d expect Lady Mary Talbot to pass by on a horse any minute. (She didn’t.)

This year, I exhibited again in the little Mennonite church of Blokzijl. Together with Helma, Daniëlle, Riëtte and Alie. While driving to Blokzijl, I got a holiday feeling everytime I drove there. The surroundings and the village are so beautiful. Not to mention the little church. It was a pleasure to be there.

And then there was BIG ART & Garden! It was an honour for me to exhibit in this place. This very beautiful gallery is close to my house. It has one of the most beautiful sculpture gardens in the Netherlands. To my knowledge it has besides the gallery, one of the best sculpture gardens in Europe. The collection is always surprising and consists of work by professional artists. I had a secret dream have my artwork on display there. Last year I was asked to come and join a show!

Art Month Ameland

I felt honoured to participate at Art Month Ameland. Every November, Ameland hosts a major international art festival. Work is exhibited all over the island in all kinds of spaces, and in the open air. The artwork I had made, was displayed in the church in Hollum.

Taking my artwork there by boat was a treat. It was on a beautiful morning, the trip across ‘Het Wad’ was very special and it was such a pleasure to be on the island. The church turned out to be a very, very suitable place for my work.

I sold quite a few works, while sales had been very good all summer already!

The dogs

Our dogs are an important part of our household and they are also, kind of, part of my work. They are always there when I am working and often sleep under my desk. Many times, I get ideas during walks with those two. Szuka and Valentio both have their own artwork inspired by their personalities.
When things don’t go well for them, things don’t go well for me either. I love them.
In a fortnight, Szuka will turn 13. So she is an elderly dog, but fortunately we don’t notice much of that, yet. Okay, she is getting much less muscular and she sleeps far more than she used to do in the old days. Nevertheles she still bounces around like a happy puppy when she’s outside.
Valentino is an adopted dog from Greece. When we first got him, he thought the world was not a safe place for him. But these days, he is mostly a happy little badass.

Next year’s plans

I sign up for another year like this. Again, i look will for great places to show and sell my work. I look very much forward to making new art. To experience the wonderful days where I tinker, cut & paste, while creating my own litte world.

I wish you all a beautiful and good year too.
