I am searching through my photo archive trying to make new collages. Cutting and pasting, creating new worlds. That’s what I do, these days. Music is important in the process. I prefer to work with the music on. Sometimes somewhere in the process, a song and a picture blend together. That’s why some of my animal collages have a real soundtrack! A song which, for me, belongs to this work. Sometimes because the atmosphere of the ‘soundtrack’ fits. Sometimes, the artwork just has to be named after a song or a line in a song. And in some cases, I don’t even know exactly why. Anyway, in my head song and picture belong together somehow. Here are some of my animal collages and their music for you.

These gentlemen are named after the song ‘Enlishman in New York’ by Sting.

STRANGE ENTITY

The mood in this work feels like ‘Strange Entity’ by Oscar and the Wolf.

SWEET PIRATE

Sweet Pirate somehow reminds me of ‘Swim with Sam’ by A Balladeer. Remember that name, get all his songs on your Spotify or buy all his CDs, the vinyl records, whatever…listen to his music!

FIRECKRACKERS

These happy pigs are named after the song Firecracker. Written and performed by Frazey Ford. I love the lyrics and the song and played this song over and over while constructing this work. That’s why this collage with the fun-loving pigs became ‘Firecrackers’.
